HOW TO
The best way to do this is to go through the book from the previous year and make a list of what sports were covered and at what levels. From this list, I would then create a new list for this year (after also glancing at the books from 2 and 3 years ago) of what sports need to be covered as dominant (doesn't always have to be varsity levels). Then, starting with fall sports and repeating whenever the other schedules come out, look at the schedules for all sports and determine which events at home need to be covered. When you are doing this, make sure that AT LEAST every sport of every level and gender gets covered at least once. This is super important.
If you are doing a chron book then write on the ladder which sport needs to be covered every week and at what level of coverage. Chron books will have the sports coverage on the weekly spreads and the group pictures in the pictures section.
If you are doing a traditional book, you will have a spread for each sport only broken up by gender. On each spread the dom will be the varsity level, sec will be jv and tert will be freshmen or a mix, whatever fits. All of the sport team pictures and names and scores will be included on these spreads.
If you are doing an umbrella book, then your sports coverage will go on whatever page fits and group pictures will go in the regular sports section. You will need to write down on the ladder what stories and angles will fit for each spread so that you can plan what games need to be covered for those based on what stories there are.
