MINI DEADLINES
For all deadlines, there should be minideadlines. There should be a deadline for each spread, usually a 2 week turnaround. There should also be design minideadlines and copy minideadlines.
WORKNIGHT
Before each deadline you should have a worknight. This is one day after school where the whole staff stays and works either at school or goes to the library or somewhere to work. Everyone can pitch in money to buy pizza or it can be a potluck style or both, however you want. This should be a time where the staff can bond and work at the same time.
PRIOR APPROVAL
Before each deadline we have to send pages to the principal for prior approval. We have to make sure that everything is ok with them before we send it. In order to do this, the EIC or editors should pdf all of the spreads and print them out in black and white and then write a letter explaining that design is not final yet. Design is never final until the pages get sent.
PROOF, PREFLIGHT, SENDING
Under the place to edit the folio on the ladder view of edesign, there is a button that says proof. Once you click that, only editors can access the spreads. That button then changes to preflight, and once you click that then only the advisor can access the spreads to send them.
